Weekend rewind

On Saturday, Stace Face and I finally got to go on our friend adventure.  I wanted to go pre-birthday shopping, so we headed to Idaho Falls.  Can I just brag about the amount of self control I showed by not buying everything I wanted at Target?  I mean seriously, considering the fact that I would gladly take one of everything they've got.  While we were there, I fell in love with a perfume.  They had this little stand with testers and I just happened to spray one on.  Then I made Stace go back with me so I could spray more and find out the name.  They didn't have any, but holy for luckiness we found some at Wal-Mart.  Which, by the way, is the most gigantic Wal-Mart I've ever been in.  We may have gotten lost a little bit.  But we both had awesome experiences with good karma

[I didn't yell at some grouchy lady and let a multitude of pedestrians cross and was rewarded with the front most parking spot possible, Stace picked up stuff someone had knocked over and we were rewarded with some lady letting us go ahead of her at the checker.  What goes around, comes around, right?]

Overall, it was a great day.  We got to get away from Rexburg and school and other such nonsense for the day, I got to buy things for my birthday [you'll have to wait til my actual birthday to see], and we got to hang out together.  Doesn't get much better than that.

Day 2:  A photo of something you ate today

Subway 6-inch turkey on honey oat, pepper jack cheese, honey mustard, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, olives, banana peppers, and jalapenos.  Heaven, in sandwich form. Notice how I'd already bitten into it?  Yum.

Okay, so I didn't actually eat this today, but since I'm doing a weekend rewind I choose to go back to Saturday and show you something I ate then.  Mostly because its my favorite food ever.  And because its what I took a picture of and planned on blogging about the other day.  And because its my blog and I do what I want.  Ha.

Fave rave

It's Friday.
You know what that means, right?
Yep, Favorite Things Fridays!
Here's my favorite thing(s) from each day this week.

Monday:
FHE missionary blitz...we got in groups and went around to tell people who are "qualified", as I so awkwardly put it, to come to our local singles ward.  Lets just say we had a lot of people looking at us like we were complete crazies.  I haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time.
And I maybe accidentally kindasorta
started driving off while one of the girls
with me was still halfway out of the car.
Yeah, not living that one down anytime soon.

Tuesday:
Got a 100% on case study numero dos.  Ridiculously ridiculous, but at least we had better luck figuring this one out.  And we won't have another case study all semester.  Hallelujah.

Wednesday:
Went to a Relief Society activity night where we learned about the importance of reading to children.  Honestly, I thought it might end up being bogus but I wanted to be supportive and went.  It.  Was.  Amazing.
A:  We got 3 children's books read to us.
B:  I actually learned a ton about reading to children and how it affects development.
C:  They had cookies.  Enough said, right?
Plus, since Melissa was leaving the next
day, we had a movie night with Audrey.
Tea for Two.  Love me some Doris Day.

Thursday:
My long, loong, looong day at work ended and I came home to a super nice compliment.  Also, I read my friend's blog and was reminded of just how awesome she is.
Shout out to Nique:
You are most definitely REDhot[squared].
Red-hot high heels X red-hot redhead.
And I'm glad we're friends.

Friday:
Remember my snorting boss friend?  Yeah, she used the money we won in one of our weird contests we're always doing and bought us all snacks for the back room.  She specifically bought me my very own half gallon of chocolate milk.  Its beyond hilarious.

Honorable mentions:
The nephew wanting me to play "I'm gonna catch you!" every second of every day.
My eye doctor literally laughing at how blind I am.
My new purple boots!
Getting my hair fixed, and having it smell like lavender all day long.
Talking to The Mom like pretty much every day this week.
Seeing Finn Hudson on some late night show, and realizing he's just as goofy in real life.
I ♥ him.

Anyone else care to share?

Vic-Torrie

First off, can I just say I kindasorta have a love/hate relationship with the word "victory"?

The love part comes from me being so full of myself that I love any word with my name in it.

Seriously, growing up I was obsessed with the word "mandatory" because it was my best friend's name (Amanda) and my name put together.  Pure genius in word form, right?

The hate part comes from the fact that my name almost means victory.

Well, technically I haven't ever found "Torrie" straight up spelled exactly my way in any baby name or name meaning book.  Ever.  Jerks.

But when I do find some form of my name, it always has the same meaning:  Shortened form of Victoria.
And Victoria's name meaning?  Victory.

So, I'm short of a victory?  Dude, I feel jipped.

But, I got 100% on my case study (Victory!)
And I made a new header (Victory!)
And its almost the weekend (Victory!)
And, once again, I don't work this Saturday (VICTORY!)

On a sadder note, one of my favorite friends had to move home.  She didn't really say much about it, other than it was for family reasons.  I drove past her house four times today (to and from work guys, not like I was creepin' her out) and wanted to cry each time!  Have you ever just made a friend so easily that you can't even really remember how you became friends?  Seriously, someone just asked us the other day how we met and the best answer we could come up with was:

Umm, well, we just started talking one day and now here we are?

So, in honor of Melissa, our friendship, our love of Glee (and Finn Hudson), and the concrete jungle that took her away from Rexburg:

Day 1

Day 1-A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

Hey look, its me!  So I went searching for a picture of me and realized that I really pretty much don't have any.  Well, there is this one of me from Thanksgiving...in my sweats...holding my niece in her little kangaroo pouch carrier thing...I decided to spare anyone who might look at my blog from that one.  Although, I could probably make myself look bomb.com with picnik.com.  Holy for coolness, that site is amazing (and maybe a little teensyweensy bit addicting).
Just an FYI, this picture is from almost a year ago
(told you there are no pictures of me anywhere!)
I had a weekend to myself and decided
to do my hair all cute
and get dressed all cute
...and go to WalMart.
Because thats how cool and exciting I am.

And now for part two of today's assignment.  Umm, well, today was pretty much a regular day for me.  Here's a breakdown of what was going on at different times throughout the day:

7:00 alarm is going off
7:05 alarm is going off again
7:10 and again
7:15 and again
7:35 running on the treadster, watching the Fresh Prince
8:45 eating yummy yummy cereal for breakfast
9:00 showering, but not washing my hair
9:20 doing my unwashed hair and make-uping my face
9:55 walking to class
10:05 sitting in my usual back row seat, listening to the weirdo girls sitting in front of me, making awkward eye contact with my pretend boyfriend
10:15 pretending to listen to my teacher while actually sudokuing
11:15 walking home
12:00 retrieving the nephew from his nap while listening to the niece throw her 8th tantrum of the day
12:30 making PB&J cracker sandwiches for the kiddos and microwaving a gut bomb for myself
1:15 cursing the DMV lady for telling me they can't check my eyes for my mail-in license renewal form
1:30 calling local optometrists to see if they can check my eyeballs
1:45 sending the screaming nephew to his room for a nap
2:00 convincing the niece its time for her nap
2:30 still convincing the niece its time for her nap
3:00 realizing she finally fell asleep and (quietly) shouting hallelujah
3:15 getting sidetracked by freecell
3:30 playing with picasa and picnik.com
4:00 annoying the heck out of any readers by giving them a play-by-play of my boring day
5:00-ish playing with the niece and the nephew
6:00-ish eating dinner
7:00-ish learning how to read to children (is it really that hard?) at Relief Society activity night
8:00-ish laughing at my friends and myself while trying to country dance

And really, thats about as far ahead as I can think.  Today was pretty much just school, kids, and making phone calls, with a dash of socializing, served with a heaping helping of laughter on the side.

Check it, yo

Remember when MySpace was oh so cool?
Remember those fun little surveys that would get passed around?
You know, the ones that asked exactly the same questions every time but in a different order so you thought it was new when really it wasn't?
Yeah, I was kindasorta addicted to those bad boys.
Truth be told, those little buggers are what brought around my first little bloggy thoughts.  As I was filling them out I would think to myself,

Man, I wish there was somewhere I could go and write down all these weird thoughts constantly rolling around my already overly cluttered brain...

Well, whaddya know--there is!
And now here I am with a blogger version of those bomb.com surveys.  I'm in heaven.
I found this little beaut on one of my many blogstalking adventures.  I think that was the exact moment that I knew I was destined for blogging.
No, seriously guys, it was a life-changing moment.

Day 30 – A photograph of yourself today + three good things that have happened in the past.

So the idea behind this is to follow the schedule and do a post a day for a month...but I don't like rules and I really don't like following rules.  So instead I'm just going to do this at my leisure.  That way I can still keep everyone updated on my oh-so-fabulous life without having to make like two posts a day.  I may be a weirdo overachiever, but not even I'm that set on achieving achievement.  And now that I've typed some form of "achieve" four times in the past two sentences, I've dubbed it the weirdest word ever.
Seriously, say it.
Achievement.
Ha.

Ketchup

I hate having to play catch up.  On anything.  I'm one of those people who forgets 75% of what just happened within 3 seconds of it happening.  Its a curse.  But I figure what I do remember is the coolest of cool stuff that happened to me, so it all works out...right?

Lets just pretend it does and smile.

So let me see...ah yes, Friday night is where it starts.  A friend of mine just broke up with her boyfriend last week, so we planned a girl's night.  I picked Subway for dinner, then my two friends picked Cocoa Bean for dessert.  Up until that point in my life I'd only ever had one Cocoa Bean cupcake in my life, and I'd never had any of their "specialty" hot chocolate.
It was lamesauce.
My vanilla cocoa didn't even taste vanilla-y and my Better Than Whatever cupcake was just...well...whatever.  I was beyond disappointed because I've only ever heard awesome things about them, but apparently everyone's been lying to me (and themselves) about the supposed amazingness of Cocoa Bean.
They did have a really cute I ♥ Cupcakes shirt that I want for my birthday though!  So I guess they still get points for that...I guess.

Then we hit the redbox and went home to watch some cheesey, girly movies.
I fell asleep.
Someday I'm gonna go back and re-watch every single movie I've ever fallen asleep in.
On second thought, that would probably take at least 7 years to do so I'd better not.

Saturday, I was supposed to go shopping with Stace Face, but Satan got in the way
No, literally, we nicknamed one of her teachers Satan because...well...she's mean and it fits.
Anyways, The Face had to do some ridiculous satanic homework and couldn't go.
So instead, I went with the sister and company to do some grocery shopping.
It was torturous.
Not being with them, the grocery shopping.
We had to go to Sam's Club AND Winco.
Ew, eww, ewww.
There were so many crazed people running around, not caring who they ran over and cutting me off left and right.  Winco was by far the worse of the two.  At one point I finally just said,
Whoever cuts me off next is gonna find themselves run over!!

Then I realized I'd said it kindasorta loud and people were looking at me like I was the crazy.  Rude.

Sunday.  Oh Sunday.  Remember how I already told you Sunday was hilariously pointless?
Work killed my life.
People not buying things killed my life.
Grumpy parents who wanted things we clearly didn't have in stock killed my life.
People not coming in for an hour and then strolling on in without a care in the world at 3 minutes 'til closing killed my life.
Sweeping out years of crap from beneath the racks killed my life
...actually that was kind of fun so never mind.

So thats my weekend, in a nutshell.  I forgot my camera (again) so I don't even have fun pictures of all the fun-ness I had.  Ehhhh.
p.s. Be proud of me.  I just figured out how to make the little heart up there.  I'm so smart!

Round two

I have another case study due tomorrow.

That should really sum it up as to why I've been absent.  Tomorrow I should be able to update you on my weekend.
(should being the key word there)

Plans ended up changing and friend time/shopping was postponed, but I still had fun and enjoyed the mere fact that I wasn't working!

p.s. I had to work yesterday.
I was there for almost six hours.
One person made a purchase,
for a grand total of $34.98 in sales.
They had to pay me more than that just to be there.
Pointless much?

For now, though, I'd better get back to learning about whatever is tweaking out Mary Keeper's endocrine system and listening to the free samples of the Glee soundtracks...because I'm too cheap to buy them.
Don't judge.
